4.22 Lastly, the State party considers that the redefinition was carried out in a context of settled law, and thus that the question of the violation of article 15 of the Covenant did not arise: as the Court of Cassation held in its decision of 3 May 2001, the article was not applicable in this case since, contrary to the author's claims, the law did not provide for a lighter sentence in his situation.
