Allow me here to refer to resolution 5629 of the Council of the League of Arab States, dated 31 March 1997, entitled “The Arab-Israeli conflict and the derailment by Israel of the current peace process” wherein the Council recommended suspension of Arab participation in the multilateral negotiations, continued commitment to the Arab boycott of Israel and the activation thereof until the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the area and until Israel complies with the terms of reference of the Madrid Conference and the principle of land for peace and implements the undertakings, commitments and agreements attained by the parties concerned on all tracks during the peace talks.

Permítaseme aquí hacer referencia a la resolución 5629 del Consejo de la Liga de los Estados Árabes, de fecha 31 de marzo de 1997, titulada “El conflicto árabe-israelí y la interrupción del proceso de paz en curso por causa de Israel”, en la que el Consejo recomendó la suspensión de la participación árabe en las negociaciones multilaterales, la continuación del compromiso con el boicoteo árabe contra Israel y la activación de dichos boicoteo hasta que se estableciera una paz justa y amplia en la región e Israel acatara las disposiciones de la Conferencia de Madrid y el principio de tierra por paz y cumpliera las promesas, los compromisos y los acuerdos que las partes concertaron en todas las vías durante las conversaciones de paz.
