32 And now, ponder this in thine heart: Were sovereignty to mean earthly sovereignty and worldly dominion, were it to imply the subjection and external allegiance of all the peoples and kindreds of the earth—whereby His loved ones should be exalted and be made to live in peace, and His enemies be abased and tormented—such form of sovereignty would not be true of God Himself, the Source of all dominion, Whose majesty and power all things testify.
Me vastasimme: ”Muhammad, Profeettojen Sinetti ja Jumalan valituista merkittävin, on verrannut Qur’ánin uskontojärjestelmää taivaaseen sen ylevyyden, sen suuren vaikutusvallan, sen majesteettiuden ja sen kaikki uskonnot kattavan luonteen vuoksi. Ja niin kuin aurinko ja kuu ovat taivaan kirkkaimmat ja hallitsevimmat valonlähteet, samoin on myös Jumalan uskonnon taivaalle asetettu kaksi loistavaa valoa: paasto ja rukous. ’Islám on taivas; paasto on sen aurinko, rukous sen kuu.’”
We made reply: “Muḥammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and the most distinguished of God’s chosen Ones, hath likened the Dispensation of the Qur’án unto heaven, by reason of its loftiness, its paramount influence, its majesty, and the fact that it comprehendeth all religions. And as the sun and moon constitute the brightest and most prominent luminaries in the heavens, similarly in the heaven of the religion of God two shining orbs have been ordained—fasting and prayer.
