"The UNU Conference on the role of regional organization in peace-keeping: The case of Latin America" was organized in Mexico City in May in cooperation with the Mexican Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM) and addressed issues such as the problems encountered in peace-building in El Salvador and Nicaragua, and the legal and political basis for involvement of regional organizations, such as the Organization of America States (OAS), in the maintenance of peace and security in coordination with the United Nations.
La "Conferencia de la UNU sobre el papel de las organizaciones regionales en el mantenimiento de la paz: el caso de América Latina", organizada en mayo en México, D.F., en cooperación con el Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo Mexicano (ITAM), abordó cuestiones como los problemas con que se ha tropezado en la consolidación de la paz en El Salvador y Nicaragua y la base jurídica y política para la participación de organizaciones regionales, con la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA), en el mantenimiento de la paz y la seguridad en coordinación con las Naciones Unidas.

In 2003, 19 courses were taught in which 125 migrant protection agents were trained. Special mention should be made of the following courses: (a) the second Binational Academy, taught by the United States Border Patrol (BORSTAR), on topics such as first aid, lifesaving, search and rescue, aquatic rescue, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and personal defence techniques; (b) the course "Ethics and Values, Mystical Theology in the Public Service", taught by ITAM; and (c) a human rights seminar taught by INM.
Durante el 2003, se llevaron a cabo 19 cursos en los cuales se capacitó a 125 Agentes Protectores de Migrantes, entre los que destaca: 1) Segunda Academia Binacional impartida por la Border Patrol (Borstar), incluyendo temas como: primeros auxilios, salvamento, búsqueda y rescate, rescate acuático, resucitación cardiopulmonar y técnicas de defensa personal; 2) Ética y Valores, Mística en el Servicio Público, impartido por el ITAM y 3) Seminario sobre Derechos Humanos impartido por el INM.
