In this regard, in 2008 the Indigenous Programme of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation continued to promote full respect for the rights of indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation and initial contact in the Amazon and the Paraguayan and Bolivian Chaco through the funding of two projects: "Generating momentum for territorial and environmental protection for indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation and initial contact in the Amazon and Gran Chaco" (presented by the IPES-ELKARTEA Institute for the Advancement of Social Studies) and "Support for the institutional strengthening of the International Committee for the Protection of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation and Initial Contact in the Amazon and the Paraguayan Chaco", intended to develop protection measures for those peoples and their territories.
