21. In its response to the Secretary-General dated 21 July 1995, Venezuela reported that under its legislation the use of drift-nets was prohibited for all vessels, either national or foreign, of length equal or exceeding 14 metres in zones under national jurisdiction and on the high seas. Any commercialization of fishery products harvested with the above-mentioned gear was also prohibited, even if the catches were made on the high seas by foreign fishing vessels. In addition, violations would be prosecuted in conformity with the Fisheries Law and its regulations, without prejudice to the revocation of fishing permits and the application of other applicable administrative sanctions.
En la respuesta que dirigió al Secretario General el 21 de julio de 1995, Venezuela le notificó que en su ordenamiento jurídico se prohibía a todos los barcos, nacionales o extranjeros, el empleo de redes de enmalle y deriva de longitud igual o superior a 14 metros en sus aguas jurisdiccionales y en alta mar. También estaba prohibida toda comercialización de productos pesqueros capturados con los citados aparejos, incluso en los casos en que las capturas las hicieran barcos pesqueros extranjeros en alta mar. Además, las infracciones se sancionaban con arreglo a la ley y al reglamento de pesca, sin perjuicio de la retirada de las licencias de pesca y de la aplicación de otras sanciones administrativas pertinentes.
