6.16.1 Les porte-bagages et barres porte-skis doivent être fixés au véhicule de telle façon que des forces horizontales longitudinales et transversales puissent être transmises qui ne soient pas inférieures à la charge verticale maximale du dispositif indiquée par son constructeur, et qu'au moins dans une direction ces forces soient transmises par la forme géométrique de l'assemblage.
6.16.1. Luggage racks and ski racks shall be so attached to the vehicle that positive locking exists in at least one direction and that horizontal, longitudinal and transverse forces can be transmitted which are at least equal to the vertical load-bearing capacity of the rack as specified by its manufacturer.

Application for type approval with regard to luggage racks, ski racks or radio receiving or transmitting aerials considered to be separate technical units shall be submitted by the vehicle manufacturer or the manufacturer of the aforementioned separate technical units, or by their duly accredited representative;
