A national Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) programme was developed in 2002.

In the same year 101 health workers were trained in the provision of PMTCT according to national guidelines.
Ese mismo año se capacitó a 101 agentes de salud en la prestación de servicios de PTMI según las directrices nacionales.

Since then, the PMTCT services offered at antenatal care clinics and labour and delivery wards of select hospitals have been expanded and strengthened.
Desde entonces, se han ampliado y reforzado los servicios de PTMI ofrecidos en las clínicas de atención prenatal y las salas de parto y puerperio de algunos hospitales.
