Dans sa résolution 60/109 B, l'Assemblée générale a : pris acte avec satisfaction du rapport du Secrétaire général intitulé << Modernisation et gestion intégrée des bibliothèques de l'Organisation des Nations Unies : nouvelles orientations stratégiques (voir A/AC.198/2005/4); demandé au Département de l'information de continuer à diriger le Comité directeur pour la modernisation et la gestion intégrée des bibliothèques de l'Organisation des Nations Unies; encouragé les bibliothèques membres du Comité à coordonner étroitement leurs travaux et à établir des calendriers pour l'accomplissement de son programme de travail; pris acte du rapport du Bureau des services de contrôle interne sur l'examen du fonctionnement et de la gestion des bibliothèques de l'Organisation des Nations Unies (A/59/373); prié le Comité directeur << de mettre en œuvre de nouvelles stratégies pour les activités des bibliothèques de l'Organisation, qui devraient en accroître l'utilité dans le cadre des mandats qui leur sont confiés >>; pris note des mesures prises par la Bibliothèque Dag Hammarskjöld et les autres bibliothèques membres du Comité directeur pour rapprocher davantage leurs activités, services et produits des buts, objectifs et priorités de l'Organisation; et prié le Secrétaire général de rendre compte au Comité de l'information, à sa vingt huitième session, des activités du Comité directeur et du travail de la Bibliothèque Dag Hammarskjöld, notamment de l'application des mesures visant à accroître l'efficacité des bibliothèques dans le cadre des mandats qui leur sont confiés.
1. In its resolution 60/109 B, the General Assembly: took note with appreciation of the report of the Secretary-General on the modernization and integrated management of United Nations libraries: new strategic directions (see A/AC.198/2005/4); called upon the Department of Public Information to continue to lead the Steering Committee for the Modernization and Integrated Management of United Nations Libraries; encouraged the member libraries of the Steering Committee to coordinate closely and to establish time frames for the fulfilment of its programme of work; took note of the report of the Office of Internal Oversight Services on the review of the operations and management of United Nations libraries (A/59/373); requested the Steering Committee "to pursue new strategies for the work of United Nations libraries, which should aim at enhancing the effectiveness of libraries within existing legislative mandates"; took note of the steps taken by the Dag Hammarskjöld Library and the other member libraries of the Steering Committee to align their activities, services and outputs more closely with the goals, objectives and operational priorities of the Organization; and requested the Secretary-General to report to the Committee on Information at its twenty-eighth session on the activities of the Steering Committee and the work of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library, including on the application of measures to enhance the effectiveness of the libraries within existing legislative mandates.
