In accordance with Article 20 discrimination is prohibited regarding: employment conditions and choice of candidates for performing a specific job, conditions of labour and all the rights deriving from employment relation, education, professional development and vocational training, job promotion and termination of an employment agreement.

The principle is not violated when the employer refuses to enter into a work contract and justifies it with a need for a specific job being carried out - on account of its kind or conditions of execution - exclusively by employees of one sex, as well as when measures are used which differentiate the legal situation of employees on account of the protection of maternity, and when measures are taken for a specified period of time aiming at equalising opportunities of employees of both sexes by the decrease, for the benefit of employees of one sex, of the scope of actual inequalities to the extent stipulated by article 183a § 1 of the Labour Code.
