Seventh, in paragraph 34, the report recognizes that the Syrian Government has facilitated the entry of relief and humanitarian aid across the official and legal border crossings with neighbouring States. Yet, in paragraph 35, it requests the Syrian Government to allow the use of illegal border crossings controlled by armed terrorist groups. That approach is unacceptable. The United Nations Secretariat should abandon it as inconsistent with the provisions of Security Council resolution 2139 (2014), which affirms the need to respect Syrian sovereignty.
