121. El artículo 101 del Código del Trabajo establece, en sus párrafos a) y b), que las horas extraordinarias sólo son permisibles cuando existe un trabajo esencial que debe realizarse con objeto de garantizar la defensa nacional, de prevenir desastres naturales o accidentes industriales o darles respuesta, o cuando dicha tarea se precisa para responder a eventos imprevistos que han interrumpido el funcionamiento de los suministros agua, gas o electricidad en plantas de calefacción, alcantarillado, telecomunicaciones u otras plantas de servicios básicos.
Article 101 of the Labour Code provides, in its paragraphs (a) and (b), that overtime is only permissible when there is vital work to be done for the purposes of national defence or to prevent or respond to natural disasters or industrial accidents or when work is needed in response to unforeseen events that have interrupted operation of water, gas or electricity supplies at heating, sewage, telecommunications or other utility plants.
